There is no dispute that Jesus was a real person that lived around 2000 years ago. Many say that he was a good person. Others say he was a prophet. Jesus made some bold claims that he was more than just a good person or a prophet. He claimed to be God!

“I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.” -- John 8:24 (NIV)

"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" -- John 8:58

“For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." -- Matthew 12:8

As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was. -- Mark 1:29-34

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."

Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, "Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" -- Mark 2:5-7

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. -- Luke 5:4-6

God the Father also calls Jesus his son:

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." -- Matthew 3:16-16 (NIV)

If all of Jesus claims about who He is are true. Then His claims about what he can do are true to:

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -- John 3:16

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. -- Acts 4:12
